Russian River Winery Tours near Fern Grove Cottages
This region is designated as a cool growing area because of fog intruding up the Russian River and its tributaries. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir made here are exceptional in their own right, but this is also sparkling wine country, where more methode champenoise is produced than anywhere else in the state. Vinyards in the region cover in excess of 8,000 acres.
A pleasant day can be spent visiting the wineries in the valley. Heading East from Guerneville, Korbel champagne winery has a tour every hour which lasts about an hour, and finishes with a free tasting. The gardens here are also beautiful. Continuing East, turn off River Road on Westside road. There are many wineries enroute. Popular with are guests are Davis Bynum, Rochioli, Mill Creek and Hopkihn. Return to Guerneville via Highway 101 and River Rd. Popular wineries on this section include Martinelli, Martini and Prati, and Topolos (also great restaurant).
